Your Resurrection – a reflection for Easter

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths Prov 3:5-6

This morning as I walked at dawn along the coast here in Co Wicklow, Ireland,  I looked out to sea and saw the fins of a dolphin as it swam up and down through the waves. It was a beautiful sight and one that is seldom seen in this part of the world. While the dolphin swam along, the sun was rising in all its glory, spreading its light over land and sea. As I walked along the beach, which had been washed clean by the tide there was but one set of footprints and I thought of some of the lines of the poem of the same name:

“Footprints”

He whispered, “My precious child,

I love you and will never leave you, never, ever

during your trials and testings

When you saw only one set of footprints,

On this special day, Easter Sunday, why not reflect on what resurrection means to you. You see metaphorically speaking do we all not go through similar journeys as Jesus did from crucifixion to ressurection in our own lives, whether it be in relationships, in business, in families, in finance and in our health. Perhaps what we need to do is to let go of our old ways of thinking, our old limited ways of being and resurrect ourselves into a brand new dawn.

If we can surrender and trust that the same intelligence that knows when the sun is to rise and the tide is to come in, is at work in our own lives helping us connect with “heaven on earth!”, maybe then it’ll be realised. If we can truly surrender perhaps we’ll experience our own resurrection to an even greater life, not only for ourselves but for the whole world.

As I finished my walk I saw the dolfin for the last time and felt it’s such a positive sign that all is well.

Happy Easter
